Bolivia governs workplace first aid under the General Law on Occupational Hygiene, Safety and Welfare (Decree-Law No. 16998 of 2 August 1979): there is no fixed numeric first-aider ratio, but the employer must provide first-aid medicines and materials, train the personnel who administer them, and set up one or more Joint Hygiene and Safety Committees. Enforcement sits with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Welfare through its Directorate-General for Occupational Safety and Health.

Bolivia has no strict statutory mandate requiring childcare educators to be first-aid certified: under the Children and Adolescents Code (Law 548), the PAN Programme regulation run by departmental SEDEGES requires staff to hold a medical certificate and the facility to keep a first-aid kit, but not specific first-aid training. Oversight rests with the Departmental Social Management Services (SEDEGES) and municipal governments.

Bolivia's duty to render aid is set by Art. 262 of the Criminal Code ("omisión de socorro"), which is tied to road-accident scenes and targets the driver rather than any bystander, so it is not a universal duty to aid any endangered person. Failure to assist carries imprisonment of 1 to 4 years (6 months to 2 years for the driver of another vehicle who fails to stop), increased by one half if it occurs in an uninhabited place, and no AED liability protection is provided.

In Bolivia the Colegio de Enfermeras de Bolivia is the profession's body, and while keeping competencies current — including basic life support and CPR — is an expected duty, no official source establishes mandatory continuing-education credits or licence-linked recertification. Continuing education is largely voluntary or organized by the employer or the Ministry of Health, and CPR/AED, ACLS and PALS are among the eligible activities that meet the expectation.

Bolivia's elderly homes (hogares de ancianos) and reception centres for older adults are expected to have care staff trained in first aid and CPR to respond until medical help arrives, but as this is an unregulated occupation training is commonly required by the employer rather than a single authority. A recognized, up-to-date certificate (for example, one carrying a Resolución Ministerial) is the usual way to meet the expectation and must be renewed periodically, in addition to the caregiver's occupational training.

In Bolivia substitute (foster) families and guardianship are regulated by the Código Niña, Niño y Adolescente (Ley N.° 548), with the process preceded by a report from the Defensoría de la Niñez y Adolescencia and assessment by the Juez Público de la Niñez y Adolescencia. The law does not expressly require a first-aid certificate, but holding current first-aid and CPR training is commonly expected for the safe daily care of a minor and should be kept current.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Bolivia, with Law 16998 requiring workers to be informed and trained on risks without prescribing a delivery format while the hands-on first-aid component stays in person. It is treated as an accepted grey zone, and certification is valid for 3 years.
