These settings are expected to ensure a rapid emergency response: care staff able to provide first aid and CPR to older adults until medical help arrives. As this is an unregulated occupation, elderly-care courses embed first aid, and in practice training is commonly required by the employer rather than by a single authority.
A recognized, up-to-date first-aid certificate (for example, one carrying a Resolución Ministerial) is the usual way to meet that expectation; it is in addition to the caregiver's occupational training and must be renewed periodically.
